Lane Cove National Park

This small but picturesque city park is a haven of peaceful bushland along the winding Lane Cove River. Home to the Kukundi Wildlife Shelter and 27 km of the Great North Walk, you can also hire a boat, take a stroll or enjoy a picnic by the weir.

Closed areas: Lane Cove section of Great North Walk closed
A section of the Great North Walk within Lane Cove National Park will be closed from Monday 2 December to Thursday 5 December 2024, weather dependant, to allow for the repair of a section of boardwalk. While the section is closed, the following diversion will need to be taken:

Closed areas: Pennant Hills Park trail closed for maintenance
Pennant Hills Park fire trail in Lane Cove National Park will be closed from Tuesday 3 December to Friday 6 December 2024 inclusive, weather permitting. There will be no access from the from the National Park section of the fire trail near Pennant Hills Park down to the intersection with the Devlins Creek trail. Penalties apply for non-compliance. Closed areas: Pest control operations
A pest control operations program using firearms is happening in Lane Cove National Park on the following dates:

Other planned events: 1080 pest management
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service will be conducting a baiting program using manufactured baits and fresh baits containing 1080 poison (sodium fluroacetate) for the control of foxes. The program is continuous and ongoing between 1 August 2024 and 31 January 2025 in Lane Cove National Park. Don’t touch baits. Penalties apply for non-compliance.
All baiting locations are identifiable by signs.
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW national parks and reserves. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.
