Tallow Beach camping area

There are a few nice walks and a beach to explore, but no water supply. The beach is not patrolled. The campsite is perched up on the hill, away from the beach. Trees offer some shelter from easterly winds. Usually busy during holiday periods.

Getting there
Closest point to drive and park is on sealed roads, from there it is via the water to this the campsite GPS: -33.53652, 151.35081 From the gate and car park at the end of Hawke Head Drive, there is a 1km walk to the campsite.

Safety alerts: Hawke Head Drive – 4WD recommended
Hawke Head Drive is currently not recommended for 2WD vehicles due to slippery areas and water damage from excessive rain.
This affects vehicle access to Tallow Beach campground, Box Head walking track, and the Flannel Flower walk.
Please drive to conditions and be mindful of other road users.

Closed areas: Little Beach campground closed
Little Beach campground is closed from 12pm Thursday 22nd May to 2pm Friday 6th June 2025 due to severe weather.
The campsites and surrounding picnic area are waterlogged from excessive rain.
Please avoid the area. Ongoing use is causing damage to the ground surface.
Penalties apply for non-compliance.
