There is a planned Hazard Reduction burn in this park from 18/04/2025. The fire is called Old Hut HR. Refer to the Rural Fire Service for latest information. Closed areas: Old Hut Hazard Reduction Burning
NPWS are conducting a hazard reduction burn in the Yowaka section of South East Forests National Park. The are is closed using signs including Old Hut road, Copelands Knob road, Sugarloaf trail and Back Creek trail.
Other planned events: Notice of 1080 pest management program
NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) is conducting a ground baiting program using fresh meat baits containing 1080 (sodium fluoroacetate) poison for the control of wild dogs and foxes. The program will be ongoing and continuous from Monday 14th April to Wednesday 30th September 2025. The program is designed to minimise predator impacts on wildlife, especially threatened species, and to minimise impact of wild dogs on neighbouring stock.
Baiting programs will be undertaken in:
- South East Forests National Park
- Coolumbooka Nature Reserve
- Bondi Gulf Nature Reserve
Domestic pets are not permitted in NSW National Parks managed lands. Pets and working dogs may be affected (1080 is lethal to cats and dogs). Pets and working dogs must be restrained or muzzled in the vicinity and must not enter the baiting location. In the event of accidental poisoning seek immediate veterinary assistance.

Other planned events: Delays on Roads and Trails
Expect short delays on roads and trails in South East Forest National Park from Friday 28 March to Friday 30 May 2025. Roadworks will be underway. Drive safely and follow the directions of roadwork signs and NPWS staff.

Other planned events: Bega Swamp, Packers Swamp, Nunnock Swamp and Alexanders Hut closed for ground pest control operation
The Bega Swamp section of Wadbilliga National Park as well as Packers Swamp/Nunnock Swamp/ Dragon Swamp sections of South East Forest National Park, will be closed from 8am Monday 28th April to 8am Saturday 10th May for a ground pest control operation.
The closed areas include:
- Nunnock campground
- Nunnock grasslands walking tracks
- Alexanders Hut
- Alexanders Hut campground
- Packers Swamp
- Dragon Swamp
- Bega Swamp
Park closure warning signs will be placed at entrances to the shooting area. Do not enter the closed area during shooting periods Penalties apply for non-compliance.

Yankees Gap Fire Trail in South East Forest National Park is closed for bridge replacements and repairs from Monday 3 March to Friday 25 April 2025.

Kanoonah Road in Coolangubra section of South East Forests National Park is closed from Myanba Falls Road through to the northern park boundary due to a major landslip.
