Dead Horse Gully camping ground
This is a large campsite, with a water supply that would need treating to drink. There is a nice walk that guides you through the granite rock boulders.

The following areas are closed due to heavy rainfall & Transport NSW road closures.
- Gorge Loop Road
- Olive Downs and Fort Grey Campgrounds
- Middle Road
- Jump Up Loop Road
- Many creek crossings & roads are closed and impassable due to severe rainfall causing dangerous conditions.
- Roads are likely to be cut off and there is a high risk of flash flooding.
- These areas will re-open as soon as they are safe.
This alert will be updated when conditions change.
Remember, it’s never safe to drive, ride or walk through flood waters, so you’ll need to reschedule your visit and avoid travel through areas in this park. Check Live Traffic NSW for up-to-date information about road closures. For assistance during severe weather visit the NSW SES website. Fort Grey campground is undergoing some maintenance to upgrade the facilities. The campground is still functional with access to current amenities. Closed areas: Areas Closed for ground pest control operation
The following areas on the Dunes Scenic Drive (Road to Cameron Corner) are closed from 6pm to 6am for a night ground pest control operation:
- Talpero Lookout
- The day use shelter at the NSW/South Australian border

Fire bans: Solid fuel fire ban for Sturt National Park
There is a ‘no solid fuel fire policy’ in this park all year round. This park fire ban will remain in effect unless otherwise extended or removed. During park fire ban periods, all campfire and solid fuel (wood, heat beads, charcoal, briquettes, hexamite) barbecues and stoves are prohibited. Gas and electric barbecues and cookers are permitted as long as:
- They’re under direct control of an adult
- The ground within 2m of the barbecue is cleared of all flammable materials
- There’s an adequate supply of water (minimum of a bucket)
